Description

A red-clay (burnished) bud-shaped pipe, the lower part of its round bowl divided into sectors by three-dimensional relief flutes in the form of petals, with a relief keel-like ridge. The stem socket and the neck of the bowl are missing. The surface is decorated with roulette impressions outlining the petals. The edge of the rim is ornamented with toothed stamping. The broken neck of the bowl retains the remains of a composition of stylised floral elements. Dated to the late 17th to 18th century. Type II in O. Kovalenko's typology. Scientific description by Yaroslav Chentsov.
